Your Spiritual Path is Personal

In the spiritual community- be it a witch, lightworker, tarot reader or other - spiritual warfare has become a thing, gatekeeping and elitism have all become a thing. I won’t get very deep into any of those terms today but wanted to mention them quickly.

When I first began my path back in the 90’s, I was 11. The internet didn’t exist, and my references were the library, bookstores, my intuition, and what little friends I could find on a similar path. Judgment was huge, so I had to strike on out on my own. Being the headstrong determined and stubborn girl I was, I never let others sway me. I was very lucky. I always had a strong sense of intuition and knew my way in the world where many people don't. I knew when it was right for me to leave the Catholic Church(watch my video on this) and start investigating other avenues and I knew there was more out there for me.  I want to talk about our spiritual paths, and how deeply personal they are.

In my years of learning, growing, and finding my way- don't get me wrong I still am, and always will be. I’ve found over the last several years the tone in the spiritual/witch world has changed. It has become judgemental. Witches and spiritual people have always been fringe beings, people who live on the outskirts of society, but now that’s shifting. Instead, as it seems to be turning more mainstream I’m noticing more and more elitism, cliques, and areas where people are adopting attitudes where “you can’t come here, you don’t belong”.

People I know, people I’ve followed for years have done this, have talked to others in this tone, or have been spoken to in this way. I’m not even going to talk about cultural appropriation here because that is not what I’m speaking about.

What I’m talking about is… your individual journey is just that. Individual. No one can tell you who your deities are how to work with them, or if you should or shouldn’t have any. No one can tell you that you should or shouldn’t feel a certain way. No one can tell you if you should be Wiccan, a green witch, no witch at all, or if you should be a lightworker. This is a journey you should be discovering and learning on your own. Perhaps with some guidance, but it’s yours. This is your decision, your life, your spirit, your soul, and the situation that you will be living, not theirs. No one can tell you if you should or shouldn’t be in a coven or what kind of magic (if any) you should be practicing.

My point is, and I hope you’re understanding me here is-- only you can know your path. I’ve been dictated to far too often about how I should be doing things or shouldn’t. In times like that, my intuition, guides, and ancestors yell back… NO that’s not for you. Sure, it upsets whoever it is that’s trying to prescribe that for me. But, in the end, I am on my journey alone.

We need to trust ourselves and not others, and always listen to that voice inside. Don’t question your inner guidance, that’s what you should be listening to not the noise outside telling you that you don’t belong or aren’t good enough.

You are good enough to follow whatever path feels right to you! It is ultimately your life, your decision, and your experience. Ultimately, it’s no one else’s business what you identify as, how you connect to the Universe, Source, Nature, or the world around you. My biggest advice here is to find some community or influencers or authors who promote education, share information, and do not belittle others who have questions or interests. Only you know what is right for you and that is where you need to stay strong and begin as well as maintain your journey. Best of Luck!
